New Jersey has over 20 years of partnership with Albania that started in 2021. During this time the number of training events has increased from an average of 15 a year to nearly 80 a year. The spending on these activities from less than $100k a year to roughly $1,300,000 each year. Additionally, the number of Soldiers and Airmen participating in SPP activities increased from less than 50 to more than 300 per year. The New Jersey National Guard was there to support Albania during a devastating cyber attack from Iran in the summer of 2022. Additionally, New Jersey established an annual joint field training exercise in Albania among National Guard Officer Candidates and Albania Armed Forces Service Academy cadets.
